Science:  We wrapped up the chemistry unit by making large summary pages in groups that included concepts we learned over the chemistry unit.  Students were given practice tests and a chemistry equation practice sheet.  Please work on these over the break so that you are ready for the test after the break.  You can access the practice tests at the following links: file:///C:/Users/sagobrail/Downloads/section%201-%20matter%20(3).pdf file:///C:/Users/sagobrail/Downloads/section%202-%20matter.pdf C:/Users/sagobrail/Downloads/section%203-%20matter.pdf file:///C:/Users/sagobrail/Downloads/section%204-%20matter.pdf Answers can be found here under SIA 92: http://www.edquest.ca/component/content/article/84 Math: Please finish the Hot Dog vendor assignment if you have not already done so.
Math: We are working on the Hot Dog Vendor Problem as the final assignment for the Linear Relations unit.  We had one period to work on it today and students will get the chance to work on it again tomorrow.  It should be done by the end of the day tomorrow.  If you need more time, please come see me.  The assignment can be found at the following link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1_Ey5AGKDfKn9ntIamaEmuvrvQ9XeTxId Science:  Today we did an online lab simulation to explore reaction rates when concentration, temperature, and particle size are changed.  We will be further discussing the results and concepts tomorrow.  You can access the activity here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ONufkfEzJ0y77dBKKK1m0_-qkhri11aO You can access the online lab simulation here: http://www.learnalberta.ca/content/seetb/html/unit_b/index.html?page=169
Science: If you missed the lab, please view the following video.  We compared the mass of the reactants and the products to find out if there is a change of mass during the reactions. *****Please also ensure you hand in the "naming Compounds" assignment.
Today in science:  We learned about conservation of mass.  Please complete questions on p. 165 #1-10.   You can access the textbook online at: https://msbrownridge.edublogs.org/files/2017/11/Science-in-Action-9-1xsbowt-2d5qvya.pdf Math: We practiced graphing linear relations, making a table of values, an writing corresponding equations.  A copy of the booklet can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tary2R4avUQ26Oxv9lVpGHoW8A_RhRct
Today in Math: We learned about interpolating and extrapolating.  Please ensure that you are doing the homework assigned on the blog.  No homework tonight. Science:  We practiced naming molecular compounds.  Continue to practice naming molecular compounds.
Today in Science:  We learned about molecular compounds and built our own models of molecular compounds using the molecular model kit!   Please see the following video to recap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fQUME2uNyo The powerpoint from today: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SVNO00JQ264Ksm-lYiZhL9K1FqeI_lzU The handout from today: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1S_DCRG9XeBv-N2NdhF68yKTxXZFOHH4w We will have some class time to practice naming compounds tomorrow.
Math: We have started a new unit on Linear Relations.  If you have missed any days last week, please come and see me for catch up work. March 5th homework: P.216-219 in the textbook.  Please do 5 of the following questions.  You can find the textbook online on D2L or at the following link: https://mskmoon.weebly.com/uploads/1/7/1/8/17186300/chapter_6.pdf Level 2: #1,2,4,5 Level 3: #8,9,10 Level 4: #13,14,15,16,17 Science: We have been practicing naming ionic compounds.  Today, we learned about polyatomic compounds.  Below is a helpful table that will help you complete the homework: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1p7aRmeIIJf8jpzb6crYnvb8RXJ6TIf17 Homework: #13 in naming ionic compounds practice booklet
